FOR THIS WEEK’S installment of Radio New Bloom, editor Garrett Dee spoke with Na Young about the effects of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ community in South Korea. Na Young is one of the co-founders of the SHARE (center for Sexual rigHts And Reproductive justicE) and the Queer Action Against COVID-19 Coalition.

Although South Korea had previously kept the number of COVID-19 cases low through widespread testing and contact tracing, a cluster of cases linked to a nightclub in the Itaewon district of Seoul has led to a wave of homophobia in South Korea. Itaewon is known for bars and venues catering to the LGBTQ community.

Radio New Bloom is a podcast covering topical events and interviewing activists, artists, public intellectuals, and others, in order to connect Taiwan and the international world. As always, we’d like to thank LTK Commune for allowing us to use their song “Good Night, Taiwan” as part of the podcast!
