Polling Shows Language Remains Contested in Taiwan

Polling recently released by the Professor Huang Kun-huei Education Foundation showed that 68.4% of those surveyed viewed “native” languages as in danger of disappearing. Academic Petition Criticizes Bilingual 2030 Policy

There was some pushback from academics earlier this month against the Tsai administration’s Bilingual 2030 policy, with criticisms that English has been focused on at the expense of local languages.
