J. Y. Kao is a Ph. D student studying Chinese Language and Literature in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Washington University in St. Louis. His research interests include dystopian articulations in the Greater Sinophone world, queer and media culture and indigenous cultural politics in Taiwan. He is currently working toward a dissertation topic that examines the multifaceted discourse of dystopia in fictional writing, film production and popular cultural production.
