Em Gunter is a graduate student in the Institute of Anthropology at National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Em completed their undergraduate studies in Medical Anthropology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Their research interests concern questions of migration, state violence, and communities of care. Em is an activist, photographer, and videographer who can usually be found documenting a protest. In Summer 2024, they took a Mandarin course in Taipei at NCCU.
