This photo series shows the lead singer of the Taiwanese band Fire EX (滅火器), Sam Yang (楊大正）, when he visited to the Legislative Yuan chamber to support the students and teach them how to sing one of his songs.
The first picture, called “Taiwan’s Future” (above), centers on a student posed in front of Sun Yat-sen’s portrait and the R.O.C. flag, double-exposed to ingenious effect.
The students represent Taiwan’s future hopes and aspiration, in which the Sunflower movement plays an important role. The occupation of the Legislative Yuan clear demonstrated the students’ will to the world. It woke the Taiwanese people from their slumber, raising their civic consciousness, and showing the way for Taiwan’s democracy, in its current endangered state, to overcome the Kuomintang’s (KMT) assault.
